Water's eye view of a waterfall in Havasupai, Arizona. The color of the water is caused by extreme amounts of calcium carbonate being leached into the water from the surrounding rock.

The rock underneath these waterfalls is growing rather than being eroded. This is because of the high concentration of calcium in the water. IT forms a crystalline layer around everything it touches, even trees which are misted by water from the falls are encrusted in calcium carbonate.
